Jack & Gibbs

Before the craziness that is Frontenac Mining Days gets really going I'd like to take a moment to give credit where it's due.

Hello Frontenac is indeed my crazy passion project. No doubt that 95% of the time if you are interacting with this page, it's with me. I take FULL responsibility for whatever shenanigans go on here, and absolutely ALL of the bad grammar.

However, if you've ever watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you'll know Jack was nothing without Mr. Gibbs to keep him on the right path and save him when it all goes wrong.

Summer Warren is my Mr. Gibbs.

She is who I come to with ethical questions or when I'm frustrated. When I'm unsure how to handle the maze that is small town life. When the situation gets tough, it's Summer who gets the text that says I'm absolutely lost on this. She DEFINITELY gets called in whenever it involves sports. Which thankfully she understands.

I review every single comment that hits the page. Guess who handles that when I take a day off? Summer does.

As we have been friends since we were kids, it is Summer who often has to break out the “wooden spoon” with me. She's the one who has to play devil's advocate with this opinionated Italian when I'm wrong or making a bad choice. (Don't worry she's just as quick to stand up for me and enthusiastically drop the ban hammer when needed.)

For almost a decade she has been the single biggest supporter of one of her friend’s passion projects. That tells you a lot about a person, about their ethics and character.

She gets nothing out of helping me. If we're close at all you know I'm the definition of a big personality in a small human. So I'm undoubtedly more trouble than ease for her. Yet. She stays. Through the years and the growth, she's stayed. Mostly watching, stepping in when needed, and always willing to help me work through problems.

So yes, it's me you see. And yes, it's me who handles the daily stuff and ALL the mischief. But it's Summer who reminds me WHY I do it, guides me when I'm lost, and takes over when I can't be at the wheel. Hello Frontenac wouldn't have made it this long without her support, and I'm forever grateful to her. - Keesh
