Who we are
In short: Hello Frontenac is an online “curated community billboard” with the goal of connecting the Frontenac community.
The long story? We love this darn town.
We believe a community stays unique and vibrant only if the residents are connected, and united. Our goal at Hello Frontenac is to help the town we love continue to grow, and yet keep its wonderful traditions. We want to provide a place where residents can go in order to connect in positive ways with their community, and find links to the information they need.
Our mission is to use social media to funnel information about the community and its events onto one page for easy access.
We provide feature stories and photos centered around the Frontenac community with an emphasis on positivity and community building.
In addition we are committed to helping Frontenac businesses, artists, and craftsmen thrive by promoting them, at no cost, to their friends and neighbors.
We welcome community club announcements, births and birthdays, anniversaries, business openings, marriages, children's accomplishment, and moments of celebration. Including but not limited to just about anything wonderful going on in a “Frontenac Friend’s” life.
We also try to quickly post lost pets. Please send us a photo, description, and where they are lost from.
We will post obituaries, but they must be requested by the family.
We will post homes for rent or sale in the Frontenac school district. As well as most Frontenac fundraisers, although they do go through an editorial process.
We will happily attend your Frontenac event, visit your restaurant or your business and do a feature. We are happy to help promote it to the community. Event organizers must reach out to our team with details in advance and issue a formal invitation. Unlike traditional media we don't often just “drop in” to events as we are staffed by volunteers.
PLEASE NOTE, it's important to remember Hello Frontenac is an online community resource site. Think of us like a giant curated community billboard. We are not a newspaper with its strict standards, or a gossip page with its complete lack of standards.
We suggest KSN or Koam for your news, Sports In Kansas for sports, and to avoid gossip sites for your sanity. While we do try to verify our content before sharing, trusted sites like Frontenac PD or the school ARE shared without verification. Please do your due diligence.
Hello Frontenac is not affiliated with any local media or news organization although we are friendly with several. Media outlets are required to have written permission to use original photography.
We are not affiliated with the city or the school, although we may have volunteers from either, they are not acting as representatives of their organization.
This site is run by volunteers. Our efforts are currently funded by our editor, and recently we began accepting donations from the community to help cover costs of operation.
Our social media site is FREE. We do not charge Frontenac businesses or organizations to share their posts or information about their services.
As we are run by volunteers, please be patient as we may not respond immediately to messages, although someone does try to get back to everyone within a few hours.
We ask that everyone who visits us treat our volunteers and fellow residents in a way that would make your parents proud, or as Thumper's mom said in Bambi, "If you can't say anything nice…"
All photos or written subject matter submitted for publication should be created by the person submitting them, or have permission from the creator.
We reserve the right to ban, block, remove, or sanction anyone for any reason moderators deem fit. (Please don't make us do this. It's crazy awkward in a town this small.) We do not publish or allow any rhetoric that is judged as demeaning, hateful, unhelpful, untrue or just plain rude by the editorial volunteers.
We will never knowingly publish something that is inaccurate, but we all make mistakes. Please send us a message and let us know. Odds are strong we're going to have a few spelling, and grammar mistakes. We assure you the amazing English teachers at Frontenac tried.
Those persons under the age of 18 submitting content need to have their parents permission.
Above all else please remember, Hello Frontenac is successful because of the love and support of the Frontenac Community. This is YOUR community resource focused solely on the betterment of Frontenac. We are honored to be part of this community.
***** OWNERSHIP TRANSPARENCY STATEMENT ******
In an effort to promote transparency in media we always want to be clear with the community on who manages the day to day operations at Hello Frontenac.
The editor of Hello Frontenac is little ol’ me, Keesha Hervey. I have a background in journalism, art, media, and general mischief. I am a fourth generation Raider, graduating in 2002. Hello Frontenac was founded in 2017 and I am responsible for all content decisions. I try to be extremely transparent about my bias towards my hometown. Readers should know that I deeply believe Frontenac is generally amazing, and most content decisions are made through that lens. Readers should defer to outside news media for items of concern. As I am openly biased towards my hometown, I am ethically unable to, and my heart is unwilling to, investigate such matters.
Summer Warren is my co-editor. Summer is an amazing copy editor, and covers the editor's desk when I am away. Summer is from Frontenac, and has been a part of my life since childhood. She is the steading force behind HF, and I will forever be grateful to her.
Any questions about the editing team can be sent via message.
