Feels like Frontenac.

There's so much I want to say about the new library, but for now just a quick story from the official opening.

The ribbon cutting tonight was amazing, but it was one of our youngest Frontenac Friends that stole the show, and reminded me yet again why I love this town.

During the ceremony Elizabeth Bonner, one of our new Librarians, was standing proudly next to Seth Nutt, the library director. Across from her out of the way of the cameras and audience bouncing happily his father's arm was her infant son. Not even a year old he's the definition of adorable, and had been content to dote on his dad during the event.

However…… half way through he made eye contact with his momma. Every parent reading this knows exactly what happened. He wanted mom, preferably now, and given enough time of denial was definitely willing to let us all know about it. Except the frustration and tears never came.

Because Seth and Elizabeth both saw what was needed. And with a smile of encouragement from Seth she simply walked over, scooped him up, and he joined in the fun of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

It was a moment that really showed our town's culture. How family forward we are. So clear in how the answer was obvious to Elizabeth, Seth and to every Frontenac Friend in the crowd that no one really even noticed other than to remark on how cute he was.

More importantly, even before the ribbon was cut, that moment defined that library. It's not a quiet place full of stuffy people. It's a thriving heart. A hub for families and life. A place to be together. To laugh. To drink coffee, read books, and watch kids play with blocks. And every part of it, from the staff with a little one in their arms, to the art on the walls, to the sweet little coffee shop, it all feels like Frontenac.

It all feels like home.
